Dr. Ofodile, Lauretta N. is a Chief Lecturer, Department of Biological Science, Yaba College of Technology. She is the immediate past Director, College Central Research Laboratory, Chairman, Women in Technical Education and Employment 2012-2016 and Head, Department of Biological Sciences (2009-2012), Yaba College of Technology, Yaba-Lagos, Nigeria.

A Botanist with specialization in plant mycology and mushroom biotechnology, she also has a certificate in Mushroom Cultivation Technology from Integrated Farm Institute, Songhai, Benin Republic in 2011. Dr Ofodile’s PhD research was carried out at the Biological Interaction Laboratory, Kew Botanic Garden, United Kingdom where she was also trained in techniques in natural product chemistry.

She has over 42 scholarly articles in local and international journals to her credit. Her research areas include; waste management, mushroom production technology, and natural product chemistry for drug production from mushrooms and plants. She manages a mushroom research and training laboratory established and maintained with series of grants by her team. Her works attracted recommendation to African American University, Republic of Benin for Professional appointment in 2021. She was appointed a Professor of Botany with specialization in Mycology in May 2023 after due assessment of her publications and other works by the same university.

Prof. Ofodile is a recipient of some awards, scholarships, and research grants. These include, 2020, National Research Fund-TETFUND grant, Innovate Lagos Research Grant 2014 by Lagos State Government for investigation into Ganoderma mushrooms against breast cancer cells. Netherland Fellowship on climate change mitigation and control 2012, MASHAV (State of Israel) Fellowship on integrated pest management and control 2003, Institutional Educational Trust Fund Research Grant (TETFUND) 2013 and 2015 and Ambo University of Agriculture, Ethiopia research grant.

She is a member of several professional bodies which includes the Botanical Association of Nigeria, International Network of Women Engineers scientists (INWES), Organisation for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), the Convener, Environmental Research Group, Yaba College of Technology between 2010 and 2014. Prof. Ofodile is the inaugural President, Wited Multipurpose Cooperative Society of the college, a position she held for 8 years.
